Banda
The region covered by the present Banda district boasts of a rich historical tradition going back to remote antiquity. The stone implements and other remains found here date back to Paleolithic and Neolithic periods, proving that human civilisation began here in those earliest time. Once Banda was among the largest districts of Uttar Pradesh. But following creation of Chitrakoot district in 1997, it is a medium sized district now. The district now has an area of 4,194 sq km, with four tehsils (sub-districts) and eight development blocks. It lies between latitude 24 deg 53 min and 25 deg 55 min north and longitude 80 deg 07 min and 81 deg 34 min east. SSA works in Baberu, Bisanda, Kamasin, Tindwari, Jaspura, Badokhar, Naraini and Atarra development blocks of Banda district. |
