HIV and AIDS

A majority of men form the area migrate to far off places in search of employment. There they have fair chances of contracting HIV and AIDS as they may practice unsafe sex with commercial sex workers, or through other means. Villagers in some of the operational area have reported some suspected cases of HIV/AIDS. This is rather alarming situation.

SSA is creating awareness among the people of the area regarding these two dreaded diseases. Puppet shows on HIV/AIDS are regularly organised in 10 high suspection villages to sensitise the community about the ailment, its causes, its symptoms and the safeguars. Wall writings on the topic have also been carried out.

To give further impetus to the interventions, World AIDS Day is observed all over these villages every year. Street plays, video film shows, rallies and camps mark the day.
