Located between latitude 23 deg 58 min to 25 deg 12 min north and longitude 80 deg 21 min to 81 deg 23 min east, Satna is a major district in Madhya Pradesh. The headqurters of the district, Satna, is a major railway station on Kolkata-Mumbai main railway line. The district has an average altitude of 1,000 to 1,100 feet.
